Chiefs fall in overtime to Tri-City after leading 4-1

KENNEWICK – After the Spokane Chiefs couldn’t hold a big lead Saturday, they also failed to continue their overtime dominance of the Tri-City Americans.

Dylan Coghlan scored 1 minute, 14 seconds into overtime and the Americans defeated the Chiefs 5-4 in a Western Hockey League game at Toyota Center that T-C trailed 4-1.

T-C’s Michael Rasmussen forced OT by scoring with 1 minute left.

The Chiefs had won their last three OT games against the Americans. Five of the seven matchups between the teams this season have ended in OT or a shootout.

Spokane (26-19-2-2, 56 points) remained in fourth place in the U.S. Division, one point ahead of T-C (24-16-7-0). The Chiefs are two points behind third-place Seattle.

Spokane’s Kailer Yamamoto extended his scoring streak to nine by assisting on Ethan McIndoe’s second-period goal for a 2-0 lead. Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Ty Smith and Zach Fischer also scored for Spokane.
