The Western Hockey League on Tuesday announced several changes which will impact the 2026-27 season. Some of those changes are aimed at making travel conditions better for the players and team staff, while one has the potential to significantly alter overtime play.

The Western Hockey League prospects draft of players born in 2011 was held Wednesday, and the Spokane Chiefs had two early selections to restock a lineup that finished second in the U.S. Division but sixth in the Western Conference and was eliminated from the first round of the playoffs by Prince George in five games.
