Several local wineries won medals at the 2018 Los Angeles International Wine Competition.

Barrister Winery’s 2014 Dionysus Vineyard Petit Verdot won best of class as well as a gold medal. Its 2014 Walla Walla Valley Merlot also won a gold medal. So did its 2015 Walla Walla Valley Malbec.

Nodland Cellars, a members-only winery in Spokane Valley, won best of class as well as a gold medal for its 2014 Walla Walla Valley Malbec. Nodland also won a silver medal for its 2015 Columbia Valley Syrah and a bronze medal for its 2014 Walla Walla Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Cougar Crest Estate Winery, which is located in Walla Walla and operates a tasting room in downtown Spokane, won silver for the following 2014 wines: Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Franc, Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley Merlot and Walla Walla Valley Block 11 Syrah.

Cougar Crest also won bronze medals for its 2014 Walla Walla Valley Reserve Syrah and 2014 Walla Walla Valley Meritage Anniversary Cuvee.
