The Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s pike reward program will end Sept. 30.

The program, which started three years ago, paid anglers to harvest northern pike in the southern end of Coeur d’Alene Lake in an effort to collect data on the invasive fish and help restore native cutthroat trout populations in the lake, according to a news release from the tribe.

While cutthroat recovery will continue in full force, the pike reward program will officially come to a close.

More than 1,050 pike were turned in during the course of the program by 132 anglers.

All told, anglers earned $7,920, with one angler earning $1,000 in June 2017.
