Detectives are searching through the Facebook messaging records of a woman who was found dead in the Spokane River after going missing on Dec. 3.

Loc Nguyen, 24, last texted a friend about 9 p.m. that day, according to her cellphone records. The text included a picture of her holding a bottle of cognac. She also texted a family member shortly after, saying, “I go to my friends house I will be home late tonight.”

That was the last time that detectives know Nguyen sent a text, according to court documents. After searching through warrant-obtained phone records, detectives found no text messages to or from Nguyen’s cellphone after 9:06 p.m. Dec. 3.

Her phone was found partially submerged in the Spokane River in an area “well off the tracks” and her car nearby, court documents state. Her body was found in the Spokane River on Jan. 30.

Detectives are now looking through Facebook’s messaging system to see if she was in contact with anyone else, according to a search warrant filed Monday. Friends and family told detectives that she often used Facebook Messenger to communicate with them, court documents state.

A ruling on Nguyen’s cause and manner of death is still pending, according to the Spokane County Medical Examiner.

Her body showed no obvious signs of violence, according to Mark Gregory, county Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
