First Night may be no more, but there are still plenty of ways to say out with the old, in with the new.

No matter your interest – dancing to daytime events, fireworks to fundraisers, comedy shows to cruises – or how late you plan on staying up, there’s an event for you.

Here’s a look at New Year’s Eve events throughout the Inland Northwest that will help you start 2019 off on the right foot.

New Year’s Eve Celebration

Riverfront Park is the place to be for New Year’s fireworks in Spokane.

To make the evening more family-friendly, fireworks are set to go off at 9 p.m. near the Clocktower.

And there’s plenty to keep you entertained before the big fireworks show.

The WSECU booth will have hot chocolate, tea and cookies available from 5-9 p.m., and party favors will be handed out to the first 500 people at the Sky Ribbon Cafe beginning at 7 p.m.

The countdown to 2019 will begin on the Clocktower beginning at 8:30 p.m., and the fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

Riverfront Park attractions will also be open during the day. Skate at the Ice Ribbon from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and ride the Looff Carrousel from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the SkyRide from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’

After saying goodbye to 2018 to the tune of Beethoven’s Ninth, as performed by the Spokane Symphony at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, say hello to 2019 at “Puttin’ on the Ritz” at the Davenport, presented by Spokane Symphony Associates.

Enter the black tie/dressy cocktail event by walking the paparazzi-lined red carpet, escorted by gentlemen in tails. During the event, enjoy a three-course dinner, plus there will also be three no-host bars.

Dance the night away to MasterClass Big Band and Spokane’s Ben Klein, an award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist, on two large dance floors.

At midnight, there will be a toast with complimentary Champagne and party favors, plus door prize drawings.

Winterfest Spokane: A Celebration of New Year Traditions

After exploring how Spokane celebrates Christmas earlier this month, the Family Guide will highlight how a variety of cultures celebrate New Year’s Eve on Saturday at the downtown branch of the Spokane Public Library.

The event will feature tables from such organizations as the Persian Community, Southeast Indian Cultural Association, Hispanic Business and Professional Association, Spokane Chinese Community, Spokane Islamic Community, Spokane Buddhist Community, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Vietnamese Community.

There will also be live performances and a sample of traditional New Year’s food and beverages from participating cultural organizations.

Noon Year’s Eve Party

The New Year’s Eve fireworks at Riverfront Park begin at 9 p.m. this year, but if that’s still too late for the little ones in your life to stay up, check out the Noon Year’s Eve Party at the Indian Trail Library on Saturday or the South Hill and Shadle libraries on Monday.

The parties all kick off at 11 a.m., which means children can ring in the new year and still make their bed time.

At Noon Year’s Eve, children can complete crafts and enjoy snacks before welcoming in 2019.

Young children should be accompanied by a caregiver.

Mirabeau Park Hotel and Convention Center

Join Key 101 FM’s Dean Jaxon for New Year’s Eve Rockin’ Ballroom Bash, an evening of music and dancing, plus party favors, raffle prizes, a nacho bar and a Champagne toast at midnight.

Inside MAX at Mirabeau, the Bobby Patterson Band will wave a groovy hello to 2019. The reserved table and room package includes two tickets to the event, a Champagne toast, party favors, an antipasto pasta appetizer plate, a reserved table and two bloody mary vouchers for Jan. 1.

Ella’s Secret New Year’s Eve Party

Swing into the new year with Strictly Swing Spokane during the Ella’s Secret New Year’s Eve Party.

Strictly Swing Spokane will provide dance lessons at 7 p.m., then the party begins at 8 p.m. with live music from Elvis Presley tribute artist Ben Klein, Abbey Crawford and Hot Club of Spokane.

There will also be a dance performance from Strictly Swing Spokane, plus prize giveaways, including hotel stays, tickets to events at the Bing Crosby Theater and restaurant gift certificates.

There will be a buffet, including dessert and a midnight toast, plus a no-host bar for those 21 and older.

Attendees can save 15 percent on hotel rooms on New Year’s Eve when booking at the Montvale, Hotel Ruby and the River Inn. The River Inn will provide a round-trip shuttle for hotel guests going to Ella’s Secret New Year’s Eve Party.

New Year’s Eve: A Diamond Soirée

There might not be a prettier setting for New Year’s Eve than Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Take in the view and say hello to 2019 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s Diamond Soirée New Year’s Eve party.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail social hour featuring aerial performers. At 7 p.m., the grand dinner buffet opens, with music from a pianist.

At 8:30 p.m., the Sara Brown Band takes the stage, followed by the first fireworks show at 9 p.m.

From 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., there will be a Champagne after party with DJ Epic Vibe and an encore performance from the Sara Brown Band.

At midnight, there will be a Champagne toast and a second fireworks show.

Throughout the night, there will also be a best-dressed contest; formal/cocktail attire recommended.

New Year’s Eve Cruises on Lake Coeur d’Alene

If you’re looking for a way to spend New Year’s Eve on the lake, the Coeur d’Alene Resort has that covered, too.

For families, there’s the New Year’s Family Cruise (all tickets $24.50).

The cruise departs at 8 p.m., just in time to catch a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

There will be family-friendly music and entertainment, plus no-host beverages and snacks for sale.

There’s also a New Year’s Eve Party Cruise (21 and older, $30), which features a live DJ, dancing, ice luge and Champagne.

And if you want to ring in the new year with a sweet treat, there’s the New Year’s Eve Dessert Cruise, featuring a dessert social and Champagne toast.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort New Year’s Eve Parties

If you’re looking for a more active way to wave goodbye to 2018, stop by Schweitzer Mountain Resort for a night of tubing before a midnight celebration.

All ages are welcome at Hermit’s Hollow Tubing Center, though those 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. There is a minimum height requirement of 42 inches.

At 11:45 p.m., head to the clock tower for a toast with complimentary sparkling apple cider and sparklers while supplies last.

New Year’s Eve at the Inn

Enjoy an evening of music and dancing at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn.

Kick off the night with a pre-party at 5 p.m. in Mulligan’s Sports Bar, then head to the conference center at 7 p.m. for DJ entertainment by Rox Music and live music from Haze.

There will also be party favors and complimentary parking.

Overnight accommodations, which feature a hot breakfast, are available starting at $79.

New Year’s Eve Party with Chad Daniels

Comedian Chad Daniels is proud to be “one of the most listened to comics you’ve never heard of.”

His four albums, most recently 2017’s “Footprints on the Moon,” have received a combined total of 700 million streams, plus he’s one of only 13 comedians to perform on “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.”

Daniels, who hails from Fergus Falls, Minnesota, has also appeared on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and has a Comedy Central Presents half-hour special.

Daniels filmed his second special in June and plans to release it and his fifth album early next year.

Daniels will headline the Spokane Comedy Club on Sunday and Monday, along with emcee Deece Casillas and Fritz Nothnagel.

On Monday, the show will wrap up at 9:30 p.m. Then Spokane Comedy Club turns into a night club for a New Year’s Eve dance party from 9:45 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Ignite New Year’s Eve

For the second year in a row, Konabass Productions, now joined by The Pin, will gather a variety of local artists for a live music extravaganza, all in the name of New Year’s Eve.

This year, Ignite New Year’s Eve features local artists performing back to back with a fellow performer of their choosing: AyZiM and Brotha Nature; Blackout and Penguin; Bsinn and Subcool; DJ Mik3y D and Kaliber; and PEWPEWSPLOAD and Wheez.

Nashville North

This year, Nashville North is kicking its New Year’s Eve party up a notch and offering a limited number of reserved tables.

For $30, you and three others will get entry into Nashville North, a reserved table, a bottle of Champagne and party favors. There will also be drink specials, dance lessons and Luke Jaxon and DJ Tom to keep the party going all night long.
