The Spokane Buddhist Temple is holding its 23rd annual Aki Matsuri Fall Festival on Sunday.

Tours of the temple and lunch will be available from noon to 4 p.m. Diners can eat in or take out.

The menu includes a $12 chicken or vegetarian yakisoba bento box lunch with miso soup and Japanese cabbage, a sushi combo for $7, and senbei (Japanese rice crackers) for $4. A smaller sushi dish will be available for $5, and dessert is $4.

The temple is at 927 S. Perry St.

Food trucks are finding their way to campus.

Washington State University Spokane is beginning an ongoing, permanent schedule for mobile food vendors, according to the university’s website.

Two trucks – Bistro Box and Jamaican Jerk Pan, featuring Caribbean jerk and curry chicken, tofu, and vegetarian meals – were scheduled to visit the Spokane campus this week.

Jon Schad, director of facilities operations in Spokane, is helping schedule the visits. He told WSU’s online Campus Bulletin, “We know our campus needs more food options and are delighted that there is interest from vendors to be here.”

French pastry? Oui, s’il vous plaît!

Chaps pastry chef Amy Juran will be teaching the art of making pâte à choux, the French pastry used in cream puffs, éclairs and the wheel-shaped Paris-Brest, created in 1891 to commemorate a bicycle race.

The hands-on, $45 class takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Kitchen Engine, 621 W. Mallon Ave., Suite 416. There’s room for 10.
