Simplot house to be demolished

The Simplot family has just announced that it will demolish the late J.R. Simplot's longtime hilltop home, starting today. "The home has been vacant for more than a decade, and the family has decided that it's in the best interest to remove the home rather than continuing to maintain it," said Simplot spokesman Ken Dey. "The family will, however, retain control of the property and will reinstall the flag once the demolition is complete, which should take about a week or so."

As for what comes next, Dey said, “The Simplot family will continue to maintain the land, but has no immediate plans for the site.”
