Garshak named next Idaho National Guard adjutant general

Idaho Army National Guard Col. Michael Garshak was appointed by Gov. Butch Otter on Friday to be the next adjutant general of the Idaho National Guard, succeeding Maj. Gen. Gary Sayler, who is retiring Nov. 1 after a 40-year military career. Garshak is currently the chief of staff for the Idaho Army National Guard.

Garshak, 52, is a decorated veteran who also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College.
