Lizard: Don’t count Gookin out

Lizard People: "I am loving it. He will get a challenger from the right. He will get a challenger from the left. The right is upset enough about the Hitching Post to vote for the right guy in big numbers, and the left is split between partisans like Phaedrus and "well, at least he is reasonable" types like JohnA. And wait 'til we get a load of who will run for Edinger's seat."

DFO: I no longer believe that Gookin's a favorite son with the Religious Right of the local GOP, after he voted for the anti-discrimination ordinance some time ago and also supported health benefits for same-sex city workers. Gookin, I suspect, remains a Libertarian, first and foremost -- fiscally conservative, socially liberal. He could be well-positioned to survive a challenge if he's contested by the right and the left. It should be fun. I suspect Gookin will survive. And can't say the same about Councilman Steve Adams. Thoughts?
