County now offering audio recordings

News release from the Kootenai County Board of Commissioners:

Effective immediately, the audio recordings of any future Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) open public meetings will be available under the Clerk heading of the County website at http://www.kcgov.us/departments/clerk/minutes.asp. Audio files are anticipated to be available within three (3) business days of the meeting date and will remain available on the site for a period of sixty (60) days. (All audio files are archived for a two (2) year period and can be obtained through a public record request after the initial online posting period has ended.) With this addition to our website, the Commissioners hope to promote transparency of government and increase public awareness and interest in the issues that affect our citizens. If you have any questions or comments regarding this change, please contact the Kootenai County Commissioner’s office at 446-1600 or kcbocc@kcgov.us/.

Question: Do you see this as a positive step toward transparency?
