What a tangled web we weave …

From Post Falls PD graveyard shift (10/19 to 10/20): Vehicle Theft -- "RP (reporting party) called to report her vehicle was stolen from Loves. Officers responded to take report. After investigation it was determined female rp made up the story to stay out of trouble with parents. Parents still signed vehicle stolen as original suspect didn’t have the vehicle. New suspect came out. Female rp was charged with filing false report and vehicle was entered into NCIC. Later in the shift KCSO located the stolen vehicle at Huetter rest stop with a male and female inside the vehicle. Both were arrested, unknown charges, and booked at PSB by KCSO."

Question: What would you do if you and your spouse had child that pulled this?
