A return to the ‘60s?

I came of age in the violent, turbulent '60s. I experienced in real time, as a teen-ager, the assassinations of JFK, RFK, and Martin Luther King. I watched the beatings of civil rights protesters on television. Ditto for the student and race riots. I was attending a community college when the "Kent State Massacre" occurred. The Vietnam War provided the back drop for all the violence and upheaval. So here's the question:

Question: How is the turbulent time similar/different from the one that the country went through in the 1960s and early 1970s?
