Lawyer: Beware of permitless carry
In an op-ed commentary in the Idaho Statesman, True Pearce, a Boise attorney and 2nd Amendment advocate, writes that Idaho’s new permitless carry law is setting Idahoans up to break the gun laws:
“I’m a strong advocate of the Second Amendment and feel that the right to bear arms is part of being American. At first reading, SB 1389, the “permitless-carry bill, sounds like a great safeguard to our Second Amendment rights. However, I can’t help but think the bill — which has passed and has been signed into law by Gov. Butch Otter — is actually setting up Idahoans for failure; and the penalty for such failure is disastrous. Does permitless carry really mean you can legally carry concealed without a permit? Federal law says no.”
Question: So why didn’t our Republican legislators think this completely through before walking lock-step to do the bidding of the National Rifle Association and the Idaho Freedom Foundation. Oh wait.
