Appreciate the world’s great art through Kino Now

It’s fairly easy to make my wife laugh. But to get her laughing hard, it takes someone such as Sacha Baron Cohen .
Some scenes in his most recent film, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” had her laughing so hard I thought she might fall off the couch.
Another time she started laughing was a while ago when a mutual friend tried to tell her that taking a virtual tour of The Louvre was almost as good as visiting the museum in person.
Traveling is something my wife loves more than pretty much anything else. So imagine how she responded to that statement.
But … it’s been nine months now since we’ve been anywhere but a few miles from our house (and that was during the drives that we took on a couple of Sunday afternoons).
We’ve traveled nowhere by plane. And we’ve visited nothing remotely like The Louvre.
So maybe she might be willing to settle for what Kino Now is offering: the chance to “Explore Great Art Through Film.”
As I’ve written in the past, Kino Now, an arm of the New York-based film distribution company Kino Lorber, describes itself as “the best in-house ,independent and classic cinema now available for purchase or rental online.”
And what the site is now emphasizing is the opportunity to rent or purchase “a selection of award-winning films about art.”
Among the many films being offered you’ll discover everything from “from a biography of dancer and Balanchine muse Tanaquil Le Clerq to an in-depth look at the meticulous preparation of a Dutch museum’s exhibition of Hieronymous Bosch .”
As the Kino Now Team says, “In this frustrating time when we cannot visit our favorite museums, galleries, and stages, we hope that you will find joy and inspiration in this carefully curated selection of films.”
I’m not sure my wife will agree. But I’ll ask her anyway.
If I can just get her to stop laughing.
