Over 3 million served?

The Washington Secretary of State's office is predicting the election turnout will top 3 million by the time the counting is done.

That's a record, as is the 3.6 million total for voters on the books. That latter number is moving upwards as county elections offices around the state process the last-minute registrations.

No telling whether the 3 million turnout estimate includes ballots that will be found in odd places by King County if a recount is needed for any reason.

The Spokesman-Review's political team keeps a critical eye on local, state and national politics.
