Obama to attend Inslee fundraiser
President Barack Obama will be the featured speaker at a campaign event for Gov. Jay Inslee this Friday.
The Inslee re-election campaign said details of the event haven't been nailed down, but current plans call for Obama and Inslee to address a fund-raiser dinner Friday evening at the Convention Center in Seattle. More information is expected to be released Tuesday.
Obama has been a frequent visitor to the Seattle area during his two terms, often making stops to raise money for his campaigns, or national or state Democratic coffers.
Inslee is running for a second term this year, with an Aug. 2 primary that features 10 other candidates. He has agreed to debate likely Republican nominee Bill Bryant Spokane on Aug. 17 in an event jointly sponsored by the Association of Washington Business, Greater Spokane, Inc. and the Community Colleges of Spokane.
As of the most recent deadline for reporting campaign contributions to the state Public Disclosure Commission, Inslee had raised $6.1 million and Bryant $1.7 million.
