Touted QB commits to Cougars
COUGARS
Several outlets are reporting this afternoon that Brophy Prep (Phoenix) quarterback Tyler Bruggman has given a verbal commitment to play his college ball at Washington State. Read on for more.
...
Bruggman, rated as a 4-star prospect by both Scout.com and Rivals.com, told the Arizona Republic and Scout.com via text message that he's chosen WSU over Arizona State and has informed coaches from both schools. He'd been weighing both options for some time, with those following hiw recruitment calling this one a true toss-up right up until the end.
Of course, this may not be the end. Signing day is some seven-plus months away. Kids change their minds, especially when their hometown school is involved. But for now, Bruggman becomes the biggest commitment Leach and his staff have picked up since their arrival. He's rated as the No. 26 quarterback prospect in the country by Scout.com, and threw for 2,497 yards and 37 touchdowns, along with just two interceptions, as a junior last season.
He told the Arizona Republic: "It was really a tough decision. I just think today my gut was telling me Washington State."
Bruggman becomes WSU's third known commitment, joining Wenatchee offensive tackle Cody O'Connell and Arlington, Texas safety Trevor Walker.
