Date movies for those with a brain
Imagine: films on a college campus that actually have something to say. Not Hollywood pap, not escapist fantasy, just movies that tackle social themes such as war, prostitution, international finance and United State policy toward Latin America. Well, it isn’t a fantasy. It’s the inaugural Human Rights Film Festival, which will be held Sunday and Monday night at Gonzaga University Law School.
Sponsored by the law school’s Amnesty International chapter, the free festival is as follows:
Sunday: 7 p.m., “The Hidden Wars of Desert Storm”; 8:10 p.m., “So Great a Violence: Prostitution, Trafficking and the Global Sex Industry.”
Monday: 7 p.m., “Not For Sale/No Se Vende”; 7:35 p.m., “Hidden in Plain Sight”; “Meeting With a Killer.”
The films will be screened in the law school’s Moot Court Room. Did I mention that it was free? Questions: call 999-7651.
