Movies and justice at Whitworth
Following in the wake of the inaugural Human Rights Film Festival that was held earlier this week at the Gonzaga University Law School, a group of students participating in the nonviolent defense and conflict-resolution class led by Whitworth professor John Yoder are sponsoring a screening of “The Human Rights Watch Traveling Film Festival.”
Four films will be featured in the festival, which well be held at 6 tonight and Thursday, and on April 23 and 24. Facilitators will lead question-and-answer sessions following the movies tonight and Thursday, while guest speakers will give presentations and facilitate question-and-answer sessions on April 23 and 24.

April 23: “Afghanistan 1380.” Guest speaker: Greg Shortreed of Mercy Corps International.
April 24: “The Last Just Man.” Guest speaker: James Waller, psychology professor and Lindaman Chair at Whitworth College, and author of “Becoming Evil: How Ordinary People Commit Genocide and Mass Killing” (Oxford University Press, 2002).
