Hey, all those “I” states look the same
Not to be too critical, but what was Nancy Pate thinking? The book reviewer for the Orlando Sentinel wrote a feature story the other day that featured Spokane young-adult author Chris Crutcher .
Pate, who is a good writer, sets the story up well, describing Crutcher as he walks into an Orlando bookstore as easily identifiable: “Gray hair, gray mustache, broad smile revealing straight, even teeth. …”
Then she goes on to explain how those front teeth aren’t real, how Crutcher had them knocked out “during a softball game in high school in Cascade, Iowa.”
Iowa? Well, close. Pate is only
a couple of states off.
Wyoming and Nebraska, to be exact. Cascade, as any Crutcher fan knows, is in Idaho.
