Get ready for a talk about Teddy
If you don’t know the name Edmund Morris , then maybe Theodore Roosevelt will do. The two names are linked because Morris, a historian and author, won a Pulitzer Prize for his book “The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt.” His sequel, “Theodore Rex,” was a New York Times best seller.
Anyway, Morris is scheduled to give a speech on June 28 in Wallace, Idaho, as part of the 100th anniversary of Roosevelt’s visit to the mining town. In addition to Morris’ talk, the celebration will include lectures and panel discussion of everything from mining history to the 1890s labor wars . There’ll also be a Saturday afternoon parade.
Which is only fitting. When Roosevelt visited Wallace in May of 1903, the city held a parade in his honor. Teddy responded by giving a speech at the Wallace City Park.
