`X’ marks the spot

Dan

I got turned on to “X-Men” a dozen years ago by the son of a woman I was then dating. It was through Marcel that I learned about Wolverine, Storm and the others. I wonder what he thinks about the movie.

He has to love it. This is the kind of movie that Hollywood does best: big, loud and filled with special effects that even James Cameron can’t imagine. In addition, it has a decent story, straightforward direction by Bryan Singer (“The Usual Suspects”) and, of course, those characters.

Hey, $86 million on the opening weekend has to mean something. Even to a kid who’s likely long outgrown comic books.
