Black, Black no takes back

Dan

Jack Black is instant comedy. Whether he’s chastising a father for trying to buy his daughter a copy of Stevie Wonder ’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You” (“High Fidelity”), romancing a fantasy version of Gwyneth Paltrow or starring in films such as “Bongwater” and “Johnny Skidmarks,” he is just naturally funny.

Which is why I am so looking forward to seeing “School of Rock,” which sneak previews on Saturday and Sunday all over the country. On top of Black, the movie was written by Mike White (“Chuck&Buck”) and directed by Richard Linklater (“Dazed and Confused”) . That’s what you call a triple threat.

Of course, as I write this, pretty much anything would seem funny. I’m watching Spike TV, the “First Network for Men,” and Adrian Paul, starring as Duncan “Highlander” MacLeod, is just getting out of the bed of his former lover, Tessa (Alexandra Vandernoot). Whatever happens, it’s pretty clear that he’s gonna soon be cutting somebody’s head off. For in the end, you know, “There can be only one.”

I’m hoping that Jack Black shows up soon.
