It’s murder, I tell ya!
Bob Glatzer called me this morning. Seems he was researching something about movie murders for a friend. So he figured that I would know something about the subject. I, of course, do. Here is a short list that I gave him:
“The Godfather”: Luca Brasi (Lenny Montana) gets garroted in the bar.
“Frenzy”: Barbara Leigh Hunt gets strangled in her office.
“One False Move”: Billy Bob Thornton , Michael Beach and Cynda Williams murder their way across the country. Most notable: Thornton watches as the plastic bag that he wrapped around a guy’s head slowly suffocates him.
“The Silence of the Lambs”: Anthony Hopkins, as Hannibal Lecter , clubs two police officers to death, all while a nice bit of classical music plays in the background.
“Schindler’s List”: Ralph Fiennes shoots several Jewish inmates in the head.
“Touch of Evil”: Orson Welles strangles Akim Tamiroff in a sleazy hotel room.
“Psycho”: Anthony Perkins’ “mother” stabs Janet Leigh to death in the shower .
“Double Indemnity” : Fred MacMurray shoots Barbara Stanwyck.
“Niagara”: Joseph Cotton strangles Marilyn Monroe in a bell tower.
“Fargo”: Peter Stormare puts Steve Buscemi in the wood chipper .
And that’s just the first 10 that I thought of.
