Hey, dude, where’s your career?

Dan

Back in the real world following five days at Sundance , and truth is that I’ve grown tired of typing that word. Here in the Inland Northwest , where a fresh blanket of snow has covered up my icy driveway — making it too slippery even for Brian Boitano to negotiate safely — I’m stuck with a only couple of new movie choices, typical of a town without an art movie house. One, “Win a Date With Tad Hamilton,” I’ve already seen. The other, “The Butterfly Effect,” I don’t want to see.

Why don’t I want to see “The Butterfly Effect”? Two words: Ashton Kutcher . Hey, the kid (he turns 26 on Feb. 7) might be the nicest guy ever. He might even have some talent. And while I don’t agree, a nation of middle-school-age girls thinks he’s more handsome than God. But, come on, the way he attracted attention in Park City? The attention that he got was more than just a bit ridiculous for someone whose biggest achievement so far has been “Dude, Where’s My Car?”

Notice what I did there. I typed Park City, not that S-word. Even Brian Boitano isn’t that slick.
