I’m watching the AFI special on the top 100 movie songs, and I’m wondering why Marni Nixon isn’t getting any credit. They talk about Audrey Hepburn singing “I Could Have Danced All Night.” And Natalie Wood singing “Tonight.” Neither could sing “Happy Birthday” without cracking glass. Nixon, though, what a voice. The only real singing talent Hepburn and Wood had was in lip-syncing Nixon. The only reason Nixon wasn’t a big star in her own right? Well, let’s just say that, compared to the other two, she had a perfect face for radio.
