Poetry, at times, is a visual medium
OK, so I didn’t get to meet either Rita Dove or Robert Bly at Sunday afternoon’s reception for Get Lit! , Eastern Washington University’s annual literary arts festival. Or, rather, I had the chance to, but I held back. The reason: I hate forcing myself on people, and both were at all times surrounded by others who wanted to meet someone both talented and, in certain circles at least, famous.
I did, though, get to meet
Bill Tremblay
who, along with
Madeline DeFrees
, read on the same program later Sunday night on the stage of The Met. Tremblay and I even had a long discussion about a screenwriting workshop that he’d just taken in Hollywood. And if what he read later is any indication, then Tremblay just might make a fine screenwriter.
