Question of the Day — 12/21/05
Issue: Military chaplains told to shy from Jesus: Muslim, Jewish and Roman Catholic chaplains are likewise told not to pray in the name of Allah, in Hebrew or in the name of the Trinity
DFO: I’m glad this isn’t just a Christian thing, so I can point out unabashedly that this is political correctness run amok. If you aren’t going to allow ministers, rabbis, etc., to minister in their faith tradition in the military, why have them?
Question: 73 members of Congress are asking President Bush for an executive order rescinding the current military practice of muzzling faith traditions. Do you support their request? Or do you believe that military chaplains still can minister adequately to troops within the new guidelines?
