It’s interesting that an internal review cleared the sheriff’s deputies in the fatal shooting of Michael Madonna Dec. 28. The report, however, doesn’t address the appropriateness of Bangs’s action when he twice walked away from a suspect known for slipping handcuffs. Sheriff’s Capt. Ben Wolfinger is quoted in the SR saying: “It’s not in the summary so I guess it wasn’t an issue for them.” It should have been.
