Fat, drunk and stupid was what we all were
Sports Illustrated On Campus , a publication that gets distributed across the country to some 70 universities, listed what it considers the “16 best college movies of all time” in its February issue. The list, which is topped by the Will Ferrell/Vince Vaughn/Luke Wilson comedy “Old School,” was compiled by the magazine’s editors.
OK, it was a nice try. But any list of the so-called “best college movies of all time” that ranks “PCU” (No. 2) above “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (No. 4) simply doesn’t have a clue. Really. Without “Animal House” – which was filmed in and around Eugene, Ore. (and I was there ) – there wouldn’t even have been a “PCU.” Being a classic, which “Animal House” is, should count for more.
For their transgression, much less temerity, SI On Campus’ editors deserve to be on double secret probation.
By the way, here’s one of my favorite “Animal House” dialogues:
Otter (
Tim Matheson
): “Point of parliamentary procedure!”
Hoover (
James Widdoes
): “Don’t screw around, they’re serious this time!”
Otter: “Take it easy, I’m pre-law.”
Boon: “I thought you were pre-med.”
Otter: “What’s the difference?”
