Dissed By KMC

As a former performer in a news circus or two, I know that reporters, photographers, cameramen and newscasters don’t enjoy waiting around for news when a big event happens. And that was the case Saturday outside KMC where 8-year-old Shasta Groene was taken. Can’t blame KMC for taking pains to protect the family’s privacy. But it went overboard when it ordered the media off the hospital grounds and then turned the sprinklers on them when they milled around on the public sidewalk. The hospital could have handled the situation better by assigning someone to act as a liaison between the family and the media. That would have protected the family while giving the media — and the public they serve — information about the little victim in this awful tragedy.
