News Flash! Idaho Sez No to The Duane
Kootenai Environmental Alliance news release:
The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) issued a ruling yesterday denying the application from the Hagadone Corporation’s Marina Yacht Club, LLC to expand and renovate the existing marina on Blackwell Island (on Lake CdA at the outlet to the Spokane River). The IDL said there was not sufficient information in the application to determine the impacts on fish, wildlife and water quality.
“We certainly agree with IDL’s decision. It’s impossible to make an informed decision until we really understand the impacts of this proposal on water quality, fisheries, and human health,” said Rick Eichstaedt, attorney representing the Sierra Club and Idaho River United. “The risk of re-suspension of heavy metals and PCBs is too great without a thorough understanding of the impacts.”
DFO: The Dept. of Lands worker bees were skittish today when reporters began snooping around, probably fearing that Hagadone attack dog John Barlow would arrive at any minute to break their knuckles.
