Question of the Day — Saturday 7/16/05

Issue: Dean foresees life in Idaho party: Democratic chairman targets ‘06 gubernatorial race /Betsy Russell, SR.

DFO: The push in Idaho will benefit the legislative candidates more than anyone else by providing excitement at the top of the ticket. I can’t see Democrats making inroads any time soon in statewide races.

Question: Do you see the Democratic Party recovering any time soon in Idaho?

Feedback: The Democrats have a problem, they don’t belong to an organized party, to paraphrase Will Rogers. The party doesn’t have the discipline exhibited by the Republicans, as Dang points out. Get out of line with the party mantra, and you’re pretty much finished in the Repub. party, as they value loyalty above all else. Look what happened to McCain in 2000, altho he had enough political capital to survive. The Dems ARE far more diverse, and attempting to kow-tow to their various special interests often makes them look like they have no compass — Green Libertarian.
