Peanut Gallery — Flip-Flops
Flipflops are the dominant footwear in the tropical world, not because anyone told them they were hot, but because that’s all anyone can afford. I’ve seen welders in Asia joining plate steel on ships wearing flipflops. I’m sure that deep within the ethic behind the footwear boom is identification with the world’s underclass, which is just plain silly. I wonder how today’s teens will look back when they are middleaged people, wondering why they wore flipflops in the snow, and how they were duped into thinking that everyone looks good in them. There are lots of feet that aren’t ready for prime time. Finally, who would pay more than $3 for a pair of flipflops?

DFO: How do you spell flipflops anyway? With a hyphen? Without? One word? Two? Inquiring minds would like to know.
