Another North Idaho tragedy

News that a 12-year-old girl was found stabbed north of Wallace came into the newsroom late last night - a last-minute shuffle moved the Guard deployment story from Page One to the Region section. Very little information was available at press time - we’ll update throughout the day online.

The reaction to today’s news was almost universal - no more. Please, no more assaults on kids. This region really doesn’t need any more tragedy. We’re aware of the fatigue that readers might be experiencing, and we’re working on ways to build the impact on the community psyche into our coverage.
