My colleague Tom Bowers , who turned me on to the latest “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” flap by emailing me the Maddox entry referred to in my previous post, also points out the irony of my calling Maddox a “blogger.” Seems the guy once went off on an extended rant about that very word.

So I take it back. Maddox isn’t a blogger, he’s (take your pick):

an online columnist
a Web -based gadfly
an internet essayist
a Cyberspace scribbler
a Cookie commentator
A Netscape newspaperman
A Router reporter
an FTP philosopher
a Gigabyte gadfly
a Java journalist
a Wi-fi wordsmith
a Spam scribe
etc.

Whatever you call him, though, this much can’t be denied: Maddox gets lots of people checking in to see what he has to say. He seldom disappoints.
