DFO : $20,000 per acre times 500 acres = $10 million — and the end of a family legacy. And the other hand, the grandkids won’t have to put up with the annual hassle of trying to burn their fields with everyone squawking at them. If the Meyerses sell, it’ll be the beginning of the end of farming on the Rathdrum Prairie. And we’ll live to regret it.

DFO: How long will it take for the Rathdrum Prairie to be covered with houses? And to you prefer open prairie with your smoke — or houses, without the smoke?
