It’s My 2 Cents
Thirty years ago today, I took Brenda Orrmins as my wife in a simple ceremony at a small Baptist church in Corning, Calif. The temperature was in the triple digits. She was a year out of high school. I’d begun my newspaper career, working as a sports writer in a small newspaper in the neighboring town of Red Bluff. We returned home from our honeymoon with less than $10 to our name. Since then, she’s followed me to Stockton, Calif., Kalispell, Mont., Lewiston, Idaho, and for the last 21 years, to Coeur d’Alene. We’ve buried our fathers and a daughter. We’ve walked through the fright of cancer together. We’ve also shared a lot of good times and continue to serve The Lord together. She remains the sweetest person I’ve met. I’m blessed indeed.
