Where Have All The Local Enviros Gone?

As the HBO blogmeister, I’m intensely aware that the community is nervous about growth. Yet, development seems to be pushing ahead unabated. The lack of cement seems to be the only thing slowing it down at all. How long before our beautiful area is destroyed? I wonder. And: Where are the successors to guys like the late Art Manley and David Potts , who could take anyone including The Duane and make The Electeds (as Gary Ingram says) pay attention. And: How can the community organize to ensure that bad development doesn’t happen. Or are we all dependent on the Hagadone chamber developer complex to make a peep? Just some questions on a beautiful Friday morning.

Feedback: I’d love to be a local environmental activist. Look at my qualifications: I’ve got long hair. I love to ride my bike. I’d like to be politically active and be a thorn in the side of developers. But, sadly, I don’t want to take up smoking, so I think that rules me out — Dang.
