Inside Huckleberries (3/11/05)

5:52 p.m. Don’t have time for National Headlines tonight. (Did I ever mention that I actually write in the SR for a living and this is my avocation?) Gotta get ready for “Seussical” at Lake City High tonight. (Dunno why my wife enjoys telling me that I get a senior discount from drama adviser Sandy Seaton .) I’ll post questions before I go, though.

4 p.m. Huckleberries blog numbers have been running great this week. I missed by only 16 on Tuesday with scoring four straight weekdays of 2000 or more, including 2568 on Wednesday. Thanks for your support.

2:33 p.m. From the CDA chamber: “Requests for visitor packets and hits on our web site spiked after Coeur d’Alene was named as the number one up and coming place to live on the View television show. The day prior to our exposure we sent out 21 visitor packets. The day of the show saw 345 requests some into our office. Similarly web site hits went from an average of 19,000 to over 77,000. Once again, Coeur d’Alene has been discovered!” (DFO: Shhh!)

2:04 p.m. From New York City, Scott Sala / Slant Point e-mails: “I saw a link to your blog from Michelle Malkin regarding the semen brownies…I grew up in Spokane (now Spokane Valley), went to U-High, Wazzu, etc. Now living in NYC for 12 years running…Nice to oddly come across a great blog from my home town. Keep up the great work. I’ll try to peek in occassionally.”

1:30 p.m. The Huckleberries Online links to the police report re: Browniegate have been picked up on Michelle Malkin’s national blog (scroll down a little) here .

12:32 p.m. I honestly pity any drama lover who doesn’t have a ticket to the last two nights of “Seussical” at Lake City High. (And this isn’t a shameless promotion because I’d bet it’s close to being sold out.) No one does high school drama like director Blair Bybee/Sandra Seaton. Kelly Richards of Concerned Business saw e-mails: “‘Seussical’ was fantastic last night!”

8:28 a.m. I’m not surprised that the other paper in town has a gushing story about Coeur d’Alene’s cameo appearance on ABC’s “The View” Thursday morning here . Brand X loves that kind of stuff that brings people to town to crowd locals off the beaches and waterways. But I am surprised that other locals loved it. I thought the 1:20 minute piece was amateurish and didn’t show Lake City off that well.
