Peanut Gallery — Paradise Lost

I went driving down Front Avenue today, and just about half an entire city block has been enclosed by metal fences…with all the houses in that area, within. Soon, they’ll all be ripped down. A hi-rise of sorts is going to be built there.

You can’t stop progress…but over time…area residents are being moved farther and farther away from the lake, aren’t they? Unless you have big money, with which to be able to afford a condo, that is. Like it or not, we’re losing the charm that’s made Coeur d’Alene what it is over the years.

They’re moving us out; they’re threatening to kick us off the beaches, they’re raising the taxes, they’re corrupting the local environment, and sadly, it’s just going to get worse. National issues are essential and vital, but we’ve got problems right here, too. Any comments?

DFO: Thanks for the downtown report, CDADave; unfortunately, you have a pretty good prediction here. Indeed, the locals are being moved away from the waterfront, and there’s coming a day when those who own their homes won’t be able to pay taxes on them. Never hesitate to bring up these topics under the Wild Card. Well done.
