Organized chaos
Probably the best way to describe election night in the newsroom. Thank goodness it’s an off-year.
The latest info is that Spokane County expects to have ballot counting complete around 10 p.m., which means we should know the results of local initiatives and council races well before deadline. Hard to tell when Kootenai County and Washington state numbers will be in.
The front-page plan is somewhat pliable at this point. We’ll probably lead with the gas tax initiative unless something unusual happens, with roundups of local races for all three editions.
Also on the front page: Kansas again takes the forefront in the evolution wars , and Congress is looking into the record profits posted by oil companies this year.
