Question of the Day — 11/21/05

Issue: One father’s labor of love: Former Yakima house-mover who believes children should work hopes for a fresh start in Idaho / Becky Kramer , Spokesman-Review

DFO: This story is about a father who was hounded out of Washington by regulators concerned that his under-aged children were involved in dangerous work assignments. I can see both sides of this one. At 14, I was mowing, raking and hauling hay with grown men in my uncle’s alfalfa fields. Try moving bales on a moving truck 20 feet off the ground. Yet, I lived. And I acquired a strong work ethic from the experience. However, I wouldn’t have allowed my son to do the same thing in his teen years.

Question: What was the most dangerous job you did as a teen-ager?
