The Slice: SFCC, Yale pair? Maybe
I hate it when media types seem to assume everyone is a college graduate.
That’s not the case anywhere, and it’s certainly not true around here.
But I’ve been wondering about something. Among local couples where both the man and woman are college graduates (but of different schools), what is the most common combination?
My guess would be EWU and WSU, but I could be wrong.
And what’s the most unlikely combination to be found in Spokane? Dartmouth and New Mexico State? Notre Dame and BYU?
“Slice answer (Internet searches that turned up personally significant info): Tricia Stone’s sister found that someone was selling memorabilia on eBay connected to their dad, actor Bob Hastings. The seller’s auction details included the assertion that the items were valuable because Hastings (who played Lt. Elroy Carpenter on “McHale’s Navy”) is dead.
The thing is, he’s not.
“Since we had all gathered in Southern California in April to celebrate his 80th birthday, this was eye-catching to say the least,” wrote Stone, a former teacher who lives in Spokane.
She said her father, who appeared in a long list of TV shows and movies, has suggested that he ought to get a cut of the eBay vulture’s profits.
