SR Letter of the Day — Sanders Beach
Seems like John Magnuson and Jack Simpson can’t accept judicial review with humility (“High court looks again at fences case,” Oct. 5). Keep the Sanders Beach ball in the courts until they get the answer they want. The Spokesman-Review’s story said that Magnuson “argued that the city can’t take a person’s land for public use without first paying the property owner.” Double standards again. Simpson didn’t have any problem with taking property for his private use without first being certain it was legal. Simpson doesn’t get it. He is satisfying Magnuson’s quest for more billable time. I’ll wager that the property value Simpson allegedly lost won’t compare favorably to the legal fees Magnuson is collecting. Why don’t they lay down their weak weapons of arrogance and pompousness and admit they are losing the battle?
