Doing your duty doesn’t have to be boring
Just received this from Paulette Pettis, the mother of Chad Triolo, a soldier serving in Afghanistan who spent part of his early years in Spokane. It accompanied a pair of photos that Sgt. Triolo sent his mom with the following explanation:
“This morning a group of us climbed the highest mountain behind our camp. I sent two pictures, one of me with Sgt Durden, Spc Alwin and Spc Meyer – and one of me by myself on the backside where there is almost a straight drop. The elevation is about 9,500 feet. Very hard to breathe going up but a lot of fun. If you make it to the top you get a t-shirt. I also attached a picture of the mountain that we climbed I took one morning from the tower. We climbed up on the right side of the ridge and walked all the way along the top toward the left. The pictures were taken at the highest point you can see on the left hand side. Quite the climb.”
Triolo, by the way, is quite the movie fan. We once shared a beer or two several years ago following the opening night gala of the Seattle International Film Festival. That’s him on the far right of the photo.
