Driven to distraction

Saturday’s story about a hotly contested merge point in Liberty Lake included a photo of a woman in a Ford Excursion (right) barreling ahead of a line of traffic.

The maneuver is completely legal, according to the story, and in the interest of full disclosure, you can count me among the people who believe life would be so much easier if we could all learn to merge like grown-ups. However, if you take a closer look at the photo, you’ll notice that this motorist isn’t exactly in the clear legally. She appears to be a bit, shall we say, distracted.
