Mailbag: How About A Moratorium On “PC”
Sara : Can we please put a nation-wide moratorium on the use of the term “PC?” It really has no definition, except perhaps that it is a term people throw around to show that they’re edgier than other folk. (How a conservative can be edgy, I do not really know. It’s one of those popular oxymorons, like Christian rock.) It was a somewhat relevant term - what in 1990? Now it’s pretty old hat. Let’s try and move on to this millennium.
DFO: Sorry, Sara, I believe political correctness abounds in today’s society. You can say anything you want about, say, religious Evangelicals, but you’re branded a bigot if you raise too many questions about immigration. We saw a good example of that here this week when the Left Bank name-called individuals who had problems who supported permission slips for Idaho high school clubs as a result of the Gay-Straight Alliance being formed at Lake City High. I believe PC is alive and well. Then, I’m a fiftysomething and may not have missed the sea change when it went out of fashion in the ‘90s.
