Issue : Jesus requested betrayal, says ‘Gospel of Judas’: Apostle who turned in Christ portrayed as hero, not traitor /National Geographic

Any Mouse : The Church condemned the Gnostic heresies many times, starting with the works of St. Justin Martyr who died around 165 AD. Every century sees another set of heresies, another set of attacks on the truth and yet the Church still survives and teaches that which has always been taught.

DFO : Hmm. Sounds like an early-church version of the Da Vinci Code. If the Gospel of Judas was written by the apostolic treasurer/traitor, I can see why he might want to spin his role in the Crucifixion. But it’s telling that the four Gospel writers of renown aren’t buying the spin. Makes for an interesting tale. BTW: I still plan to see the Da Vinci Code.

Question: Are you curious about the Gospel of Judas?
